Description

Located in the Cordillera Real southwest of Chachacomani and northwest of Huayna Potosí about 60 kilometers from the city of La Paz, being part of one of the 11 peaks of the Condoriri Valley with a height of 5450 m. / 17,880 ft. establishing as base camp the Laguna de Chiarkhota 4600m. / 15,091 ft., The Little Alpamayo was first conquered in August 1962 by an African couple Irene and Keith Whitelock, also known as Alpamayo Chico by the resemblance to the Alpamayo in Peru.

Technicality:

Itinenary

3 Day Schedule:

DAY 1: We drive 2.30 hours from La Paz passing through the Polcoco Valley to La Rinconada 4400 m. / 14,435 ft. Where the pack mules are waiting to take our equipment of climbing and camping, we begin a walk of approximately 2 hours until the Laguna Chiarkhota 4600 m. / 15,092 ft. (Base Camp) where we will spend the first night.

DAY 2: After a breakfast at 02:00 am, we begin the trek to the center of the Condoriri Valley for about 1.5 hours until we reach the Pequeña Illusion Glacier (4,950 m / 19,520 ft.). It is from there that we begin Climbing through the central part of the glacier until reaching Tarija Peak (5,300 m. / 17,388 ft.) In 3 hours. We descended a rocky section to reach the peak of the Pqueño Alpamayo a technical climb from 80 m to almost 65 ° to reach the summit (5,450 m. / 17,881 ft.). Then we return to the base camp for the same route in half the time.

DAY 3: We pick up the camp and return to La Rinconada where the transportation awaits us to return to La Paz.
