WHAT WILL YOU SEE in SAN PEDRO DE ATACAMA?
We will spend 8-10 hours exploring the different ecological zones around the Atacama water basin. Not only will you observe the incredible wildlife that inhabits one of the driest desert in the world, but also you will be delighted by the most amazing landscapes, including snow capped volcanoes and hidden waterfalls.
BIRDLIFE
More than a 160 bird species have been registered in the San Pedro de Atacama county: 3 out of the 6 flamingo species that exist can be sppoted in this area! We can also find beauties such as the Puna Plover, Puna Ibis, Red-backed Sierra-finch, Puna Teal, Horned Coot, Mountain Parakeet, Spot-winged Pigeon, Puna Rhea and many more.
WILDLIFE
The Andean slopes and high altitude plains are the natural habitat of Guanacos & Vicuñas. Heards of these South American camels graze peacefully during the day, sometimes accompanied by the Culpeo Fox and the fluffy Vizcachas (medium size rodents).
Rarely visible and always hiding, three species of wild cats inhabit the rocky canyons: the Pampas cat, the Andean cat and the biggest predator in the food chain, the Puma.
