Verónica & Helamcoma Peaks climb + Machu Picchu (10-day)

Climb Helamcoma (5370m) and Nevado Verónica (5910m) in the Andes of Peru (10-day trip)

The highest mountain of the Urubamba mountain range is the Veronica peak or Nevado Verónica, lying at 5910 msnm, offering one the more impressive mountain views over the Sacred Valley of the Incas. Join me on this 10-day trip and climb this magnificent peak in Peru, visiting also the amazing archaelogical treasure of Machu Picchu.

Our main objective on this 10-day trip is the ascent of Veronica, a representative peak of the Cusco Region, with an ascent also to the Helamcoma mountain. We will also hike to Huchuyqosqo arqueological site and visit Machu Picchu, in order to get a solid aclimatisasion before climbing Veronica.

Verónica Peak is the most beautiful mountain of the Sacred Valley of the Incas, offering a wonderful access and the possibility of extending the trip to discover the immense cultural and historic treasures of the Cusco region.

The privileged location of this peak make posible to aclimatise ourselves before the ascent with a visit to Machu Picchu and an ascent to Helamcoma (5370m), another beautiful peak in this region. We will be hiking at about 4200 msnm and rest after the climbs in the Sacred Valley, at 2900 msnm. Both ascents Veronica and Helamcoma Peak offer technical routes to get the summit.

I will pick you up in Cusco and we will travel to the town of Siwas, a 2-hour drive. Once there, we will ascend to the Lenpuncu passs (4200m) and following the original Inca trail we will descend to the Huchuyqosqo citadel.

Then we will go down to the town of Lamay at the Sacred Valley were we are going to transfer you to Ollantaytambo we’re we will take a train to Machu Picchu, the amazing Inca citadel we will visit on the next day of our trip.

On the following days, we will climb to Helamcoma summit, as a preparation for our objective. On the eighth day of our trip, after spending one night at Base Camp, and another night at Advanced Camp, we will climb to the summit of Nevado Verónica. This is a demanding mixed climb and a it will be a 12-hour long activity. You can check the day-by-day itinerary below.
